Mr. Harvey Williams came to Saginaw many years after G. I), and E. S. Williams. Mr. E. S. Williams is now a resident of Flint, and recently passed his 84th birthday. He has accumulated enough of this world's goods to be able To live comfortably in his old age. He occasionally makes this city a visit and his cordial greeting always makes him welcome.
A. Miller refers to Judge Albert Miller, of Bay City, brother of Mrs. Jewett, of this city. Mr. Miller is too well known in this city to require much mention here.. He was prominent in every movement of importance in the early days. Mr. Miller still visits his friends and acquaintances in this city. He has been spending some time of late in looking up documents pertaining to the early history of this State, which to him is always interesting.
Andrew Ure, a member of the township board, and who was active in building the old court house, was the father of Robert and John Tire, and was by occupation a farmer. He long since went "to that bourne from whence no traveler returns, " but his name will always be remembered in connection with early events.
Of Jeremiah Biggs, whose name is also attached to the proceedings of the township board, but little is known. Suffice it to say, that his name is recorded with others whose deeds were honorable and advantageous to the early settlers. (Mr. Riggs was an early pioneer of Saginaw and Genesee counties, known as Judge Biggs. ) •
At the meeting spoken of above the bids for the construction of the county building were opened. There were four in all, as follows:
